I won’t be able to make it to Boerne that day. Can I still participate?

Yes! We would love for you to. If you’d like to walk/run, register as a virtual runner.

I cannot participate locally or virtually, but would still like to help. How can I do so?

Thank you for your support!!! Because our deaf/HOH participants race for free, we need to defer the costs of their shirts and medals. Please sponsor a runner or two here.

Do I need to be an avid runner?

The 5K will be chip-timed for those wishing to race competitively. For the rest, come out and enjoy the day! You can walk, jog, crawl, skip, or dance your way to the finish line.

Can my kids participate?

Absolutely! Kids ages 5 and under run for free, but won’t have a race shirt. You can buy an Aid the Silent T-shirt for $10 at the Aid the Silent booth on race day. If you would like a race shirt for your child, register them as a runner and indicate what size shirt on the registration form.

Can I run with my stroller?

Yes! The course runs through an area neighborhood and along the Boerne river walk. It is chip-timed so we kindly ask that those with strollers start at the end of the crowd.

What is the age limit?

No age limit! Come one, come all.

Are pets allowed?

Yes, our 5K is pet-friendly! We just ask that you start at the back of the race for safety reasons. Animals must be leashed by a responsible individual at all times. You must clean up after your pet.

Can friends and family attend?

Of course! Bring your friends and family to come cheer you on. After the race, we’d love for you to stay and enjoy the local boutiques and restaurants in the area.

What if I register and can’t make it? What is the refund policy?

Unfortunately, we are unable to process refunds, exchanges, or transfers. When you register you will be asked to accept our No Refund Policy.

I would like to support Aid the Silent as a sponsor. How can I do so?

Thank you. Please visit our Become a Sponsor page for more info on how you can help.

I would like to become a vendor at your race’s vendor market. How can I do so?

We’d love to have you. Please visit our Become a Vendor page for more info.

As a Virtual Runner...

How do I sign up?

Fill out the form, click “REGISTER NOW” and pay the fee. Share in the fun by simply printing out your bib, run the race, take a selfie, and hashtag your pics #aidthesilent #showyouraids #98percent.

What time do I run?

If you are running virtually, you can run (or walk) any time that fits your schedule. It is always fun to run at the same time as the actual race and post your photos so we can share them at the time it is happening. However, the beauty of running virtually is you get to pick the time!

Do you need proof that I ran?

Not at all, we appreciate your support! However, we would love to see your photos so if you have social media, please post a photo and tag us in it. Also be sure and hashtag #ATS5k #aidthesilent #98percent #showyouraids

Do I need a bib?

No you don’t, however, we have provided a downloadable pdf on this site that can be printed out at home and pinned on shirt to wear.

Do I turn in my time?

No, this is a chipped timed race , thus it is measured electronically.
Chip timing precisely measures race results by registering a race chip as the runner crosses RFID timing mats located throughout the race course. Each runners individual clock starts as soon as they pass over the mats located at the starting line, and likewise ends as they cross the mats at the finish line. Due to this, virtual runners cannot participate in the placement categories.

When will I get my t-shirt?

If you are out of the area, the t-shirt will not be mailed until Wednesday, May 12th. We have to wait until as late as possible to place the order so that we can be sure as many runners who have registered are able to get a t-shirt. If you are local and would like to pick up your packet in person at one of the packet pick-up locations – please email development@aidthesilent.org by Wednesday, May 12th to ensure you packet is not mailed.

Will I get a medal?

Only (D)deaf and hard-of-hearing get participation medals. All other medals are placement medals based on chipped timed scores.

Will you mail my packet to me?

If you are local, we encourage you to come to one of the packet up locations. Please email development@aidthesilent.org by Wednesday, May 12th to ensure you packet is not mailed.
We love for people to pick up in person for couple of reasons: One being, you will get your packet on time and secondly, this is a fundraiser for our deaf and hard-of-hearing children and teens and this allows us to save money by not mailing. If you are out-of-state or not in the area, your packet will be mailed to you the Wednesday before the race USPS. Due to it going through the US Post Office, we do not have a tracking system to estimate arrival times.

Can I donate to help cover the shipping costs?

Yes please, being a non-profit we are always looking for ways to help with expenses so we can be good stewards and put more funding towards our mission. Go to aidthesilent.com/giving to donate.
