Campaign Progress to Date

$1,425,000 of $2,050,000 Funded

Aid the Silent purchased a 6800 sq ft building at 8126 Broadway in April of 2022. The remaining note needs to be paid off as well as necessary renovations to become accessible for deaf children and their families to access services, advocacy classes, community American Sign Language lessons, hearing aid support care, as well as have access to our social worker to navigate our application process. Our plans include converting our front lobby into the “Deaf Children and Family Hub.” As well as making our waiting room flooring and restrooms wheelchair accessible and to create a warm welcoming place for our families to receive services. This building serves as a gathering space for community sign language lessons as well as many of our teen events. We host community nights that average over 100 families and we need a place where they can belong.

Your support funds this building project to expand our mission in a major way. Without these funds, we are limited to a 1950’s building made for a dance studio and a glass factory, not a hearing aid clinic or multi-use facilities for families. If the renovations are incomplete, it will be difficult to help the deaf with additional disabilities.

The Goals of Completing the Capital Campaign:

Onsite audiology clinic/OTO microscope. ATS can host onsite clinics.
Hire additional in-house audiologist and begin taking patients from the public not just our clients
Interpreting Department created for sustainability
Expanding Parent & Teacher Conference Program
Basketball goals and recreational equipment for kids and teens
Host our elementary summer camps on-site
Stage, speakers, Sub Pacs (subwoofer vibration backpack), screens/trons and accessible technology for larger reach of events and hosting center (Funded by HEB)

Seasonal Deaf Events
Executive Board Meetings on-site
Start a Middle School Program
Expand Teen Program to reach every deaf high school student in the area
Host Market Days in parking lot featuring deaf businesses
Create an ear mold manufacturing company to provide deaf jobs and self-sustainability for operating costs
After School tutoring & art program (funded by Najim Family Foundation)
